What It Does
This clamp holds a soft hose onto a rigid pipe or barbed fitting. You slide it over the hose, push the hose onto the pipe, then tighten the clamp. The clamp compresses the hose and stops leaks.
The German style refers to the design. It has a solid housing and a smooth band. The band does not have sharp edges that could damage the hose. The housing is strong and resists spreading.
Where to Use It
Use this clamp for irrigation systems, water transfer, and agriculture. It works with layflat hose, PVC hose, rubber hose, and suction hose.
The clamp is made of stainless steel. It resists rust and corrosion. You can use it outdoors, in wet conditions, or with chemicals. It will not fall apart after one season like cheap zinc clamps.
The finish can be galvanised (zinc coated) or polished (shiny). Both are corrosion resistant. Polished is more decorative. Galvanised is more common for farm use. Pick the one you prefer.
Installation
Open the clamp by turning the screw counter clockwise. Slide it over the hose. Push the hose onto the rigid pipe. Position the clamp over the middle of the overlap.
Tighten the screw with a screwdriver or nut driver. Do not over tighten. Tighten just enough that the hose does not move. If you see the hose bulging through the slots, you have gone too far.
The band thickness is 0.6mm to 0.7mm. The bandwidth is 9mm to 12mm. That is a good balance between strength and flexibility.
