Product Description
What It Does
This coupling does the opposite of the female version. It has a male thread on one end. You screw that end into a female threaded component like a valve or a filter.
The other end is a plain socket. You push the layflat hose into the socket. A clamp holds it in place. This gives you a removable connection.
Where to Use It
You have a layflat hose. You want to connect it to a valve that has a female thread. Screw the male end of the coupling into the valve. Push the hose onto the socket end.
The coupling is also useful for repairs. If a threaded fitting breaks, you can cut the hose and install a new coupling. You can also use it to create a temporary connection that you can take apart later.
Installation
Wrap PTFE tape around the male thread. Use five to seven turns. Screw it into your female fitting. Hand tighten plus a quarter turn with a wrench. Use a strap wrench to avoid cracking the plastic.
For the socket end, push the layflat hose into the socket. Push it until it bottoms out. Warm the hose end in the sun first if it is stiff. Then secure it with a hose clamp. Our Steel Clamp Jubilee Type or Steel Clamp Seal A are both suitable.
Do not use glue. The clamp should be removable.
Durability
The coupling has a sturdy plastic body. It has high tensile strength. It resists UV and chemicals. It is built for long service life. The material will not rust or corrode.
