Product Description
What It Does
This fitting connects your rain hose to a threaded component. For example, you might screw it into a valve, a filter, or a pump outlet. The other end attaches to the rain hose.
One side has a male BSP thread. The other side fits the rain hose. Based on standard designs, that side is usually a barbed socket. You push the hose onto it.
Where to Use It
You are setting up a rain hose system. Your mainline has a female threaded outlet. You need to connect the rain hose to that outlet. This coupling bridges the gap.
The coupling also works for repairs. If a threaded fitting breaks, you can cut the hose and install a new coupling.
Installation
Wrap PTFE tape around the male BSP thread. Use five to seven turns. Screw that end into your female fitting. Hand tighten plus a quarter turn.
For the rain hose end, if it is a socket, push the hose firmly into the socket until it bottoms out. Warm the hose end in the sun first. Soft hose connects more easily. Then secure it with a hose clamp. Our Steel Clamp Jubilee Type works perfectly for this.
If the other end is a female thread, wrap tape on the hose’s male thread and screw it in.
Do not over tighten. Plastic can crack. If it leaks, add more tape.

After connecting the coupling, you will need an end cap at the far end of your rain hose. That is our Rain Hose End Cap. To extend the line, use a Rain Hose Straight Coupling.
