What It Does
A layflat straight coupling does one job. It joins two pieces of layflat hose together. The two hoses must be the same size. You push each hose onto the coupling. The barbs or ridges hold them in place.
Water flows from one hose into the other without leaking. The coupling keeps your irrigation line running.
When You Need It
Your roll of layflat hose runs out before you reach the end of your field. Use a straight coupling to attach a new roll. Keep going.
A tractor or a tool cuts your hose. Cut out the damaged section. Use a coupling to join the two good ends. The repair takes a few minutes.
You have several short leftover hoses from previous seasons. Join them together with couplings. Turn scrap into a usable line. That saves you money.
Installation
Cut the hose ends square. Use a sharp knife. A crooked cut can cause leaks.
If the hose is stiff, warm the ends in the sun for 10 minutes. Soft hose is easier to push onto the barbs.
Push one hose onto one side of the coupling. Push until it covers all the barbs. That is about 20 to 30mm. Then push the second hose onto the other side.
For a secure connection, add a hose clamp over each hose end. Our Steel Clamp Jubilee Type works well. The clamp stops the hose from blowing off under pressure.
Pressure and Durability
The coupling is made of HDPE. That is high density polyethylene. It is strong, UV resistant, and chemical resistant. It will not rust or corrode.
The coupling handles typical layflat pressures up to 3 or 4 bar. That is about 45 to 60 PSI. If your pump delivers higher pressure, use clamps on both ends.
Sizes We Stock
