Where You Use It on the Farm
A tapping screw is a general-purpose fastener. On an irrigation or greenhouse setup, you might use it for:
-
Screwing a pipe clip or saddle into a wooden post to hold a mainline.
-
Attaching poly film batten strips to a wooden greenhouse frame.
-
Fixing drip line guides or stakes into raised beds.
-
Securing a hose reel bracket to a wall.
-
Fastening a trellis wire eye bolt into a wooden end post.
The screw is self tapping, meaning it cuts its own thread as you drive it into wood or thin sheet metal. You do not need to drill a pilot hole first, though a small starter hole can help prevent splitting in very hard wood.
Installation
Use a manual screwdriver or a drill with a suitable bit. Drive the screw straight into the material until the head is flush.
Do not overtighten; the screw can strip the material or snap if forced. For metal, drill a small guide hole first if the metal is thicker than 2mm.
