Product Description
Rain hose is also called micro spraying tape. It is a flat hose when dry. When water flows through it, the hose rounds out. Water sprays out through small holes along the length.
The spray covers a width of about 1 to 3 metres on each side. That depends on your water pressure. Higher pressure gives wider spray.
Where to Use It
Vegetable gardens. Lay the rain hose along the row. It waters the whole row at once. No drippers to install.
Greenhouses. Hang the rain hose above the plants or lay it on the ground. It provides gentle overhead watering.
Flower beds. Rain hose gives even coverage without damaging delicate flowers.
Vineyards and young trees. Lay the hose along the row. Water reaches the roots of every plant.
The spray is fine enough that it does not damage seedlings. But it is strong enough to water established plants.
Installation
Lay the rain hose along your crop row. Keep it straight. Connect one end to your water supply. Use a Rain Hose Male Coupling or a Rain Hose Straight Coupling. Seal the far end with a Rain Hose End Cap.
Turn on the water. The hose will fill and round out. Water will spray from the holes. Adjust the pressure to get the spray pattern you want.
To store the hose, turn off the water. The hose goes flat again. Roll it up. It takes very little space.
Pressure and Flow
Rain hose works best at low pressure. 0.5 to 2 bar (7 to 30 PSI). Higher pressure makes the spray wider but can also cause the hose to burst.
If your pump delivers higher pressure, install a pressure regulator before the rain hose. A simple brass regulator works.
The flow rate depends on the hose length and pressure. A 100m roll of 50mm hose at 2 bar will use a lot of water. Make sure your pump can handle it.
Related Products
You will need a Rain Hose End Cap to seal the far end. Use a Rain Hose Male Coupling to connect to a valve or pump. Use a Rain Hose Straight Coupling to join two rolls.
To hold the hose in place on the ground, use our Fixing Stake for Ground Pipes.
Sizes Available
32mm, 40mm, and 50mm. Each roll is 100 metres long. Choose the size based on your water flow. Larger hose carries more water.
