PVC Reducing Coupling

PVC Reducing Coupling

A PVC fitting that connects two pipes of different diameters in a straight line. Used when transitioning from a larger mainline to a smaller lateral, or when adapting pipe sizes in an irrigation system.

Size
  • 17 size combinations: from 32mm x 20mm to 110mm x 90mm
  • Solvent weld connection on both ends
  • PVC construction; corrosion resistant and durable
  • Smooth internal transition to reduce flow restriction
  • Bonds permanently with PVC glue (high‑bodied or medium‑bodied)

Product Description

What It Does

A reducing coupling joins two pipes of different diameters in a straight line. Both ends are socket‑type (slip) connections that bond permanently using PVC solvent cement.

The larger end fits the larger pipe; the smaller end fits the smaller pipe. This fitting is used wherever a pipeline changes diameter without changing direction.

Where It Fits in an Irrigation System

In drip and sprinkler layouts, a reducing coupling often connects a mainline to a smaller lateral line. It also appears when repairing a line where one section is a different size, or when stepping down pipe diameter to match a valve, filter, or other component.

Because the transition is smooth inside the fitting, water flow stays steady with less turbulence than a sudden step‑down.

Installation Notes

Cut both pipes square and remove burrs. Dry‑fit to check alignment before applying glue.

Apply cement to both the pipe end and the inside of the socket. (Use PVC solvent cement. For larger sizes, high‑bodied glue like ERA L‑5023 gives better gap‑filling; for smaller sizes, medium‑bodied ERA 3011 works well.)

Push the pipe fully in with a slight twist, and hold for a few seconds. Allow each joint to set before handling the next.

Wait at least 15 minutes before pressurising the line.
