While this fitting is used with HDPE pipes, the valve body and the nuts are made from high-grade Polypropylene (PP). This material is much more rigid than the pipe itself. This rigidity is important because the valve must maintain its shape to keep the internal ball seal perfectly tight.
If the valve body were flexible, it would warp under high water pressure and begin to leak. The rigid PP construction ensures that the mechanical threads stay strong and the valve remains reliable season after season.

Installation and Compatibility
To get a professional, leak-proof result, proper installation is necessary. You should always use a pipe cutter to ensure a square and clean edge on your HDPE pipe. A jagged or diagonal cut can prevent the pipe from seating correctly against the internal O-ring.
While smaller sizes might feel tight by hand, you must use a standard fitting wrench to complete the installation. This final mechanical tightening is the only way to ensure the clinching ring grips the pipe enough to meet the PN16 pressure rating. These valves are optimized for use with thicker PN10 or PN16 pipes.
