What It Does
This is a straight coupler. It joins two pieces of 16mm PE pipe end to end. Both ends have barbs. Push the tubing onto the barbs and you have a single longer line.
No glue, no clamps, no heat. Just push and go.
When You Need It
You are laying out a long lateral line. The roll of tubing runs out before you reach the end of the row. Cut a new piece and join it with this connector. Keep going.
A hoe or a shovel cuts your drip line by accident. Cut out the damaged section. Use the connector to splice in a new piece of tubing. The repair takes less than a minute.
You have several short leftover pieces from previous seasons. Join them together with connectors. Turn scrap into a usable lateral.
In temporary systems, you might take the lines apart after harvest. The connector lets you disconnect by twisting and pulling. No cutting required.
Installation Steps
Cut both tubing ends square. A clean square cut makes a better seal.
If the tubing is hard to push on, warm the ends. Sunlight works well. Hot water works faster. Just a few seconds.
Push one tube onto one barb. Push until the tube covers all the barbs. That is about 15mm. Then push the second tube onto the other barb.
You can push both tubes at the same time. Or do one side first, then the other. Either way works.
To disconnect, twist the tube while pulling. The barbs let go. You can reuse the connector many times.
Leak Prevention
The connector seals by compression. The barb spreads the tubing slightly. That creates a tight fit.
If you see a small leak, the tube may not be fully seated. Push it further. If the tube feels loose, the barb might be damaged. Replace the connector.
For high pressure systems above 3 bar, add a small clamp over each barb. A stainless steel worm drive clamp works well.
