Why You Need It
Every drip lateral line needs a closed end. Without an end cap, water runs out the end and never reaches the emitters.
The emitters along the line will also have lower pressure because water is escaping. This cap pushes onto the cut end of a 16mm PE pipe and seals it. All water stays inside the lateral and exits only through the emitters.
Installation Tips
Cut the tubing end square. Use a sharp knife or PVC cutter. A crooked cut can cause leaks. If the tube is stiff from cold weather or long storage, leave it in the sun for 10 to 15 minutes.
You can also dip the end in hot water for a few seconds. Push the end cap firmly onto the tubing until it bottoms out. You should feel it stop. The cap needs to cover about 15 to 20mm of tubing.
To remove, twist the cap while pulling. Do not use pliers on the cap body; it may crack. Instead, grip the cap with your hand and twist.
Leak Troubleshooting
If the cap leaks after installation, the tubing may be out of round or the cut may be uneven. Remove the cap, re‑cut the tubing square, and try again.
If the cap still feels loose, wrap two or three turns of PTFE tape around the tubing before pushing the cap on. The tape fills small gaps. Do not use glue; the cap is designed for push fit only. Glue can damage the plastic.
Pressure Rating
The end cap works at typical drip pressures up to 2.5 bar (about 35 PSI). For higher pressures, consider a clamping type end cap. In most drip systems, the pressure at the far end of a lateral is low anyway, so this cap performs well.
