Product Description
Mulching paper is exactly what it sounds like. You lay it on the soil surface around your plants. It covers the ground.
Weeds need sunlight to grow. The paper blocks that light. Weeds die or never sprout. You spend less time weeding.
The paper also slows evaporation. Water stays in the soil longer. You water less often. Your crops have steady moisture.
Micro Percentage Explained
Micro refers to the tiny perforations in the paper. The number is the percentage of open area.
60% micro means 60% of the paper has tiny holes. Water and air pass through. Weeds still get blocked. Good for most vegetables.
80% micro means more holes. More water passes through. Good for sandy soils or heavy rain areas.
Both options work well. The choice depends on your soil and rainfall.
Where to Use It
Tomatoes, capsicums, kales, cabbages. Any row crop benefits from mulching.
Fruit trees. Lay the paper around the base of young trees. Keep weeds away from the trunk.
Melons, pumpkins, cucumbers. The paper keeps the fruit clean by keeping it off bare soil.
Installation
Prepare your beds. Remove existing weeds. Level the soil.
Lay the paper flat over the bed. Cut slits or holes where your plants go. Plant through the holes. Weigh down the edges with soil or stones.
For long rows, overlap the edges of the paper by a few centimetres. This stops weeds from growing through the gap.
The paper is UV treated. It lasts through one or two growing seasons. After that, it breaks down. Remove it and dispose of it.
Benefits
Less weeding. Less watering. Healthier crops. Cleaner fruit. Lower labour costs. The paper pays for itself in reduced work.
