Product Description
Precision Branching for Your Mainline
The Male Threaded Tee is a critical component for farmers who need to create controlled branch-offs in their irrigation network. While a standard equal tee connects three pipes, this version allows you to "tee off" your mainline directly into a female-threaded accessory.
This is the professional standard for building valve manifolds (where a single supply line feeds multiple independent irrigation blocks) and for connecting sprinkler risers directly to underground lateral lines. Its design allows for a secure connection without the need for glues, solvents, or heating machines.
Impact-Resistant PP-B Construction
On a Kenyan farm, fittings are frequently exposed to physical impact during installation or maintenance. These tees are manufactured from Polypropylene Block Copolymer (PP-B), a material chosen specifically for its toughness and shock absorption. Because PP-B is a softer, more flexible plastic than other variants, it resists cracking even if dropped on rocky soil.
However, this flexibility means the threads are more delicate than metal. Installers should align the male branch carefully before tightening to avoid cross-threading, particularly when mating with metal valves.
Thread Compatibility and Professional Sealing
The male branch of this tee features BSPT (Tapered) threads. While BSP (British Standard Pipe) is the common standard in Kenya, female-threaded components (like ball valves or pump ports) can be either Parallel (BSPP) or Tapered (BSPT).
When a tapered male is screwed into a parallel female port, the threads do not mate perfectly along their entire length. Because of this, the seal is provided by the PTFE (Teflon) tape filling the gaps.
To prevent "hoop stress," which can crack the PP-B body, avoid over-wrapping the threads. We recommend 4 to 6 wraps of high-quality tape for a secure, leak-proof joint.

Installation Standards and Wrench Use
To protect the internal seals and achieve a professional result, proper pipe preparation is vital. Use a pipe cutter for a square edge, and always chamfer (deburr) the pipe end. This prevents the sharp edge of the HDPE pipe from nicking or displacing the internal NBR O-ring as you push it into the fitting.
While the PP-B material and Nitrile seals are resistant to standard water-soluble fertilizers, they should not be exposed to harsh acid flushes or strong oxidizing agents.
For professional irrigation standards, a fitting wrench is mandatory for sizes 40mm and above. While it is possible to hand-tighten smaller fittings, you cannot physically reach the torque required for a 16-bar (PN16) seal by hand on anything larger than 32mm.
