Product Description
Lay flat pipe is the most practical way to move water across your farm. It is not rigid like PVC pipe. It is flexible like a hose. When water flows, it rounds out. When the water stops, it goes flat again.
You can roll it up and carry it. You can lay it across a field in minutes. You do not need special tools or glue.
Where to Use It
Connect your pump to your drip irrigation system. Run the lay flat pipe from the pump to the edge of your field. Then connect your drip laterals.
Move water from a dam to a tank. Run lay flat pipe over the ground. It handles small hills and curves.
Supply water to a sprinkler system. Lay flat pipe works as a mainline for both drip and sprinklers.
Use it as a temporary line. After harvest, roll it up and store it. Next season, lay it out again.
How It Compares to Rigid Pipe
Rigid PVC pipe is permanent. You bury it. It lasts many years. But it is expensive and hard to move.
Lay flat pipe is temporary or semi permanent. You lay it on the ground. It costs less. You can move it between fields. You can store it during the dry season.
For many small and medium farms, lay flat pipe is the better choice. It does the same job at a lower cost.
Installation
Lay the pipe along your planned route. Keep it straight. Avoid sharp rocks or sticks that could puncture it.
Connect one end to your pump outlet. Use a Lay Flat Female Thread Coupling or a Lay Flat Male Thread Coupling. Secure it with a steel clamp.
If you need to join two rolls, use a Lay Flat Straight Coupling. If you need to turn a corner, use a Lay Flat Elbow. To branch to two directions, use a Lay Flat Middle Male Thread Tee.
At the far end, seal the pipe with a Lay Flat End Cap.
Pressure and Durability
Lay flat pipe handles pressures typical for irrigation. Up to 3 or 4 bar (45 to 60 PSI). Check the rating on your pipe. Do not exceed it.
The pipe is made of PVC or similar material. It resists UV. But leaving it in the sun for years will weaken it. Store it indoors when not in use.
Punctures can happen. You can repair small holes with a layflat patch kit. For larger damage, cut out the section and join the ends with a coupling.
Benefits Recap
Cost effective way to move water across large farm areas. Lightweight and easy to carry and lay across fields. Quick to set up and take down between irrigation cycles. Works well as the main supply line feeding drip irrigation systems.
