Product Description

Connect Your Mainline to Sub-lines Efficiently

The HDPE Reducing Tee is an essential fitting for Kenyan farmers who need to manage water distribution across different sections of their land.

When you are running a main water line from a pump or a tank, you often need to branch off into smaller pipes to reach specific crop rows or drip kits. This fitting allows you to connect three pipes in a T-shape, with one outlet specifically sized to fit a smaller diameter pipe.

While these are commonly called HDPE fittings because they connect to HDPE pipes, the body and the nuts of the fitting are actually made from high-grade Polypropylene (PP). Polypropylene is chosen for this role because it is a rigid material that can hold mechanical threads much better than HDPE.

This rigidity is what allows the fitting to maintain a tight, leak-proof seal even when your irrigation system is running at high pressure.

How the HDPE Reducing Tee Works

This fitting uses a mechanical compression system to join pipes together. Inside the fitting is a rubber O-ring that creates a seal and a clinching ring that grips the pipe to prevent it from pulling out.

Because the body is rigid, it does not flex. This is an important design feature because it protects the internal seal from failing if the ground moves or if the pipes are shifted during farm work.

For farmers using surface-level irrigation, these fittings are UV-stabilized to handle the Kenyan sun. While plastic used on the surface will naturally become more brittle over time compared to pipes buried underground, the high-grade PP construction ensures a long and productive service life for your seasonal irrigation setups.

Compatibility and Installation Tips

To get the best performance out of your HDPE Reducing Tee, proper installation is key. We recommend using a pipe cutter to ensure a perfectly square cut on your HDPE pipe before insertion. A clean cut allows the pipe to sit flush against the internal stop of the fitting, which prevents leaks.

While small pipes can sometimes be hand-tightened for low-pressure use, you must use a standard fitting wrench to tighten the nuts if you want to achieve a full PN16 pressure rating. This mechanical tightening ensures the clinching ring bites firmly into the pipe.

These fittings are optimized for use with PN10 and PN16 pipes. If you are using thinner PN8 pipes, ensure you check the grip strength carefully under full pressure.
