Why You Need a Tension Rope
Wind is one of the biggest threats to a greenhouse cover. Without something holding the polythene down, wind can lift the film, tear it, or pull it off the frame entirely.
A greenhouse band, also called a tension rope, is tied over the top of the greenhouse from one side to the other. It presses the film against the frame and stops wind from getting underneath.
How to Install It
- Drape the band over the greenhouse roof, spacing each band about 1 to 1.5 meters apart.
- Tie the ends to anchor points at ground level, such as pegs, bricks, or a fixed rail.
- Pull the band tight enough that it presses the film against the frame but not so tight that it cuts into the polythene.
The anti-UV polyester material will last several seasons without snapping.
Other Uses
The same band can be used to secure shade cloth, tie up trellised crops, or lash down temporary covers over nursery beds. Keep a roll on hand for quick repairs and securing loose film.
