Product Description
Install Terminal Taps and Valves at 90 Degrees
For any farmer setting up a water point, the final connection is usually the trickiest. You’ve run your mainline across the farm, but now you need a tap that doesn't leak or a valve that stays put.
The Female Elbow Coupling is the professional way to "turn the corner" and provide a threaded outlet for your hardware. Unlike a standard coupling that keeps things in a straight line, this 90-degree elbow creates a stable terminal point. Because it uses a mechanical compression system, it’s completely demountable, meaning if you decide to move your water point next season, you can take the fitting with you.
Why Material Engineering Matters
While the pipes on your farm are flexible HDPE, this fitting is made from Polypropylene Block Copolymer (PP-B). We use PP-B because it is far more rigid than the pipe itself. This is critical for threaded connections; a flexible body would warp under the weight of a heavy brass tap, leading to a "mystery leak" that never stops.
Inside the blue nut, a white Polyacetal (POM) split ring bites into the pipe to prevent pull-outs, while the Nitrile Rubber (NBR) O-ring creates the actual watertight seal. It’s a specialized combination designed to handle the vibrations and pressure spikes of a working irrigation system.

Performance and Long-Term Care
To keep your system safe, these fittings carry specific pressure ratings: 20mm to 63mm are rated at PN16, while the 75mm to 110mm sizes are rated at PN10.
The PP-B body is UV-stabilized for a decade of use in direct sunlight, but here is a pro-tip: the internal NBR O-ring is the "heart" of the seal and prefers cooler temperatures. For maximum longevity, we recommend burying your mainlines whenever possible.
These fittings are also fully compatible with standard NPK fertilizers, so they won't corrode during fertigation.
Professional Installation Tips
A leak-free installation starts with a square cut. Use a pipe cutter rather than a hacksaw if possible, and always chamfer the pipe end so it doesn't nick the O-ring as you push it in.
For the female threaded side, which uses BSPP (Parallel) threads, ensure a rubber washer is seated at the base of the socket. You only need 2 to 3 wraps of PTFE (Teflon) tape on the male thread to aid lubrication. Using too much tape will create "hoop stress" that can actually crack the Polypropylene body.
Finally, while you can hand-tighten the smaller sizes, always use a fitting wrench on 40mm fittings and above to ensure the O-ring is fully compressed.
