Product Description
What It Does
An eye bolt provides a permanent, secure attachment point. The threaded end screws into a wooden post, wall stud, or concrete anchor. The loop (eye) then accepts a rope, wire, cable, or chain.
In irrigation and farming, eye bolts are the hidden hardware that holds up trellis wires, supports overhead sprinkler hoses, or anchors pump pull‑ropes.
Common Farm Uses
-
Trellis anchors – Screw an eye bolt into a wooden post at each end of a row. Run the trellis wire through the loops and tension it.
-
Overhead irrigation hoses – Attach eye bolts to a greenhouse frame, then run a wire through them to support moving sprinkler hoses.
-
Pump or engine pull‑cords – Anchor the pull rope of a petrol pump to an eye bolt so the rope is always within reach.
-
Temporary shade or netting – Use eye bolts as anchor points for ropes holding up shade cloth over a nursery.
Installation
Drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than the bolt shank into the wood or post. Screw the eye bolt in by hand, then tighten with a wrench or a rod through the eye. Do not overtighten – stop when the bolt is snug.
For concrete, use a proper anchor sleeve before threading in the bolt. Leave the eye oriented so that the rope or wire pulls in line with the bolt, not at a sharp angle.
