Terminal Sealing and Pressure Management
The End Cap is a critical component for completing your irrigation network and maintaining the head pressure required by your emitters. Unlike temporary plugs, this mechanical fitting is designed to handle the high working pressure of your pump or gravity system at 20°C.
Because it uses a mechanical compression system rather than glue or heat fusion, it remains fully demountable. This allows you to extend your pipeline later or install additional fittings as your farm acreage expands without cutting the existing pipe.
Engineering for Terminal Points
In the tough conditions of a typical Kenyan farm, terminal fittings often sit at the edge of the field, where they are subject to physical impact and intense heat. While Polypropylene Block Copolymer (PP-B) is valued for its shock absorption, these fittings are specifically UV-stabilized to prevent the material from becoming brittle in direct sunlight.
Inside the fitting, the NBR O-ring creates the watertight hydraulic seal required to hold system pressure. Simultaneously, the white Polyacetal (POM) clinching ring bites into the HDPE pipe, providing the mechanical grip needed to prevent the pipe from pulling out under load.
Maintenance and Line Flushing
One of the biggest advantages of using a mechanical end cap is the ability to maintain your system by flushing the lines. Over time, silt and algae can accumulate at the dead ends of your pipes, eventually clogging your drippers or sprinklers.
By unscrewing the end cap while the system is under low-pressure flow, you can allow the water to clear out these contaminants. If you disassemble the fitting frequently for flushing, we recommend inspecting the NBR O-ring and POM grip ring for wear and replacing them if the seal becomes compromised.

Professional Installation and Thermal Care
To achieve a professional PN16 seal, proper pipe preparation is essential. Use a pipe cutter for a clean, square edge and chamfer the pipe end before insertion to avoid nicking the internal NBR O-ring.
Because HDPE pipes undergo significant thermal expansion in the Kenyan heat, burying the fitting will not prevent expansion-related stress. Instead, ensure your system design includes expansion loops or offsets to accommodate the pipe's natural movement.
For the best performance, always ensure the pipe is pushed completely past the O-ring until it reaches the internal stop of the fitting body.
