Product Description

What It Is For

In a drip irrigation system, you need holes in the mainline or sub‑main to insert start connectors, grommets, or emitters. The hand drill punch makes those holes.

It is manual, so you can use it anywhere in the field without electricity or batteries. The tool is small enough to carry in a pocket or tool belt.

How to Use

Select the bit that matches the fitting size you are installing. Common sizes: 4mm for small emitters, 6mm for barbed connectors, and 16mm for start connectors.

Press the tip of the bit against the pipe at the desired location. Hold the tool straight, not angled.

Turn the handle while applying light, steady pressure. The bit will cut a clean, round hole. Do not force the tool; let the bit do the cutting.

For hard pipes like thick HDPE, you may need to use a back‑and‑forth turning motion. Remove the punch and check the hole. It should be round with no jagged edges.

Bit Care and Replacement

The bits are steel and can become dull over time, especially if you drill many holes in hard pipe. A dull bit tears the plastic instead of cutting it, leaving a rough hole that may leak. Replace the bit when you notice rough holes or when you need to apply excessive force.

To change bits, loosen the chuck (if the tool has one) or pull out the old bit and insert a new one. Keep bits clean and dry to prevent rust.

Which Pipes It Works On

HDPE pipes, PVC pipes, poly irrigation tubing, and lay flat hose. The sharp bits cut cleanly without cracking the pipe.

For very thin wall tubing (less than 0.5mm), use a lighter touch; the bit can punch through too quickly and tear the material. For thick wall pipe (over 2mm), you may need to apply more turning force.

Safety Note

The bit is sharp. Keep fingers away from the tip when not in use. Do not leave the tool where children can reach it. After use, remove the bit or cover the tip.
