Product Description
What It Does
A middle connector joins two drip lines in the middle of a run. If a lateral line gets cut by a hoe or a shovel, cut the tubing cleanly at the break and push both ends onto the connector. The line is whole again.
You can also use it to extend a lateral that is too short; just add a new piece of tubing and connect with the middle connector.
Installation Details
Cut both tubing ends square. Remove any dirt or debris from the ends.
For a secure fit, push one end firmly onto one side of the connector until it covers all barbs, about 15 to 20mm. Then push the other end onto the opposite side. The barbs grip the inner wall of the tubing.
If the tubing is cold or stiff, warm the ends in hot water or sunlight before pushing. This prevents the tubing from splitting. No glue, no clamps.
Flow Impact
The connector has a slightly smaller internal diameter than the tubing itself. This creates a minor flow restriction. For a single connector in a long lateral, the effect is negligible.
If you join many pieces in one line, the cumulative restriction may reduce flow at the far end. Try to use the shortest possible laterals and minimise the number of connectors.
Removal and Reuse
To disconnect, twist the tubing while pulling away from the connector. The barbs may resist, so work slowly. The connector can be reused if the barbs are not damaged. Inspect the barbs for cracks before reinstalling.
